Ronald McDonald House Charities: Providing Stability and Resources for Families Everywhere

Hey everyone, I found another charity to write about! Sometimes it just takes me some time to find the right one, ok? Today I will discuss the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House works to provide stability and resources to families that have a child battling an illness. Caring for a child that is fighting an illness is very taxing on both the child and the family in more ways than one. Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) works to provide these families with their basic needs such as housing, dental or medical care, and anything else that they need while traveling for their child’s sickness.  RMHC recognizes that the most optimal care for a good majority of children is not within a reasonable traveling distance for their family. These travel expenses can add up, especially with hotels, food, and gas, so RMHC works to help these families so they only have to focus on their child’s illness. I see RMHC as the THON of all children’s illnesses. This charity just wants to see the child get better and not make the family worry about how much money their hotel will be or where they can get basic medical care for their other children. Today, there is Ronald McDonald Houses and Chapters in more than 64 countries and regions. RMHC was founded in 1974 and has had over 508,000 volunteers and staff members. This large number of volunteers makes all of the RMHC’s programs possible. On top of the Ronald McDonald Houses where families can stay, there are Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in hospitals that allow families to rest right near where their child is staying in the hospital. There are also many grants provided to RMHC that focus on the needs of the children as well as RMHC Care Mobiles that provide immediate care to children when they need it most. It is very easy to become involved with a RMHC chapter. The two most simple ways are to donate money to the website or volunteer at one of your local chapters. When volunteering, you may have the opportunity to cook a meal for the families, host them, or simply listen to them in any way that you can. Volunteer work like this is something that speaks to my heart. I feel as though volunteering is one of the easiest ways to give back to your communities. Donating money is easy, but you are just swiping your credit card or donating some cash. It might make an impact, but you don’t see the impact directly. I feel like donating money is a part of the click bait media. It’s so easy to donate $10 to a charity to say you did a good deed, but think about it. Do you actually care about the cause you donated to? Or do you just want to be able to say that you’ve donated your money and then move on with the rest of your day? Volunteering is giving your time, and if you want to donate some money, I say go ahead and do that too. Ronald McDonald House Charities is a great organization to be involved in. You are making an impact on the families as well as their sick children. It is important to address all members of the support team for a sick child, which is why I think RMHC really does their job.

(Okay, sorry, this website won’t let me submit pictures right now, but I will attach the RMHC website for those of you who want to look into it. I wish I could add photos but I am not about to mess with this blog site.)

  3. While it is true that many people simply can’t afford to pay more for food from Chick Fil A menu, either in money or time or both, many more of us can. After all, just in the last decade or two we’ve somehow found the time in the day to spend several hours on the internet and the money in the budget not only to pay for broadband service, but to cover a second phone bill and a new monthly bill for television, formerly free. For the majority of Americans, spending more for better food is less a matter of ability than priority.
