I honestly never saw this one coming, not even making a joke out of it, but IĀ neverĀ thought I would be sent home from school in my second semester of freshman year, of course just when things were getting good.
I am going to put my anger about this awful situation behind me because I am well aware there are greater issues than my freshman year.
But I have taken this Coronacation and decided to use it to my advantage. During this three week break I will be fixing my eating, getting enough sleep, catching up on school, and exercising. I literally have nothing better to do. All of my friends and I are ~social distancing~, my work is shut down, and I am stuck in New Jersey. Which actually contradicts my usual opinion of New Jersey, but the Governor has shut everything down, which again I understand.
So with next to nothing to do I thought why not get my life together. I practice mindfulness a lot, which I wrote about in another blog I think. But if you have never tried it now would be a great time to start. Mindfulness is not meditation or breathing exercises, it can be but that stuff is not for me. The way I practice mindfulness is at the end of each day I reflect on the day. How I felt, how certain people made me feel, what I am grateful and thankful for, no matter whether or not it was a bad day.
I think especially in a crisis struck world mindfulness is so important to use because it is so easy to be pulled into the media and the mass hysteria and drive your anxiety and fears through the roof.
I encourage you to just practice reflecting on the day, not just because the world is ending, but I personally believe it brings a lot of benefits. But I also would not trust me, so here are some benefits according to ~google~

It’s great that you have a set list of things you want to achieve during the Coronacation! I think a lot of people are falling into the temptation of lying in bed for most of the day ^^ Reflection is definitely one of the greatest things you can do during a time of change!
I haven’t heard the term Coronacation yet. I had a weird set of things happen where I was super busy with Pete Buttigieg’s candidacy and he dropped out, then the Ireland trip was cancelled, and I was like DONE. My energy levels sank to nothing. Even though this sucks really badly, I need some time to regroup, re-prioritize, and manage my disappointments and anxiety!
I definitely needed to be reminded of this today! As tensions are beginning to run high in my crowded house, I think I need to remind everyone to have some mindfulness time. I hope that this helps get you through the chaos of the world right now!
I was so angry with the world’s situation, but like you, I have finally come to terms with it. I have decided that I will have a total glow up in quarantine, and come out a better person. Life is too short!
I also have looked into mindfulness but I definitely want to practice it more. Personally I feel like my brain is still in between coming to terms with the situation and just pushing it aside. I think the best course of action is to meditate for like 15min to half an hour and just embrace the position we’re all in and decide how we want to move forward.
I have to start off by saying I love the term, “coronacation” I might have to start using it. I really needed this reminder to get back on track and I am thinking about picking up more mindfulness techniques over this little break. I can’t wait to keep reading what you’re up to. It just popped into my head but what is this doing to your sorority? Are you guys still hosting events, but online now?
