The Science Behind The Xbox One

In November of this year, the technological and gaming fields will be hit with what Microsoft is calling its best gaming console to date, the Xbox One. While millions upon millions of people, including myself, will go out and buy this console, few people actually know how much of a revolutionary design this console holds. For the sake of both the interested and/or the uninformed, I will be sharing with you the innovative design concepts that have been integrated into this console.

Many consoles in the past, including the PS3 and the Xbox 360, use the same layout whenever it comes to the configuration of the CPU, GPU, and ESRAM. These three component are more likely than not on 3 separate chips due to the different processes that each must carry out. However, the Xbox One is taking a large step into the future by combining the CPU, GPU, and ESRAM and using one chip instead of 3. What this does for the console is makes it lightning fast due to reduced risk of overheating because simply put, one chip takes up less space within the machine than 3 chips.”So, the Xbox One uses its power more effectively, creating lightning fast experiences unlike anything you’ve had before.” (Xbox.com) It is innovations like this, impulse sensors on controllers, total integration of television, movies, music, and other multimedia mediums that Microsoft hopes will boost them ahead of the competition this fall. As for this teenage tech nerd and blogger, I will be picking mine up most likely on release day. They are available for pre-order now and release November 22nd, 2013. Happy gaming and as always, stay nerdy.

  1. Very interesting post! I now know the certain qualities of the Xbox One that make it special. How stiff of a competition between the Ps4 and the Xbox One will be? I believe that after Microsoft removed their used games policy the amount of people that Xbox support increased which is a good sign.
