When it comes to music, I’m sure we all have that one artist that we want to “gatekeep” and know only for ourselves. Like a gem waiting to be discovered, his/her music is so good, but it has yet to see the light of day. That’s how I feel about an artist named Homezone. His songs and style present everything I could ever want in music, that’s why I want him to do well and succeed, but at the same time, I don’t. I don’t want public attention and pressure to possibly change what he has now. That’s how much I love his music.

I only just recently discovered Homozone myself while scrolling through Youtube, but am I glad I did. A video I just happened to scroll past used one of his songs as background music that really appealed to me, so I did some research and found him, looked up all his songs, listened to them, and added them to my playlists. Upon my research, I found that he isn’t the most popular artist, which is a real bummer because he definitely has the talent and potential to be.
He could be a real star if he signed with a major agency or had a strong foundation, but instead, he’s currently signed with a relatively minor/unpopular agency and composes/produces most of his songs himself independently. However, I think that’s all the more impressive that he’s been able to produce such high quality music by himself.
Originally debuted under the name “Hongjong”, he changed his stage name to be “Homezone” with the desire to produce warm music that feels like home. Let me be the first one to tell you, his music definitely lives up to that title. While other artists that I’ve introduced generally fall more under a mixed genre of Pop and RnB, Homezone is closer to strictly RnB, which I love. When I listen to his music, I feel like a lot of my stress and worries just fade away. I forget about all my problems and can freely relax for the few minutes that I’m listening to him. It’s no understatement to say that his music quite literally feels like home, which I find to be much needed during my time here.
Whether he’s popular/famous or not, I love that he sticks to what he wants to do and produces the kind of music that he’s satisfied with and doesn’t seek to change what he wants to satisfy the public. If it appeals to certain individuals, they’ll listen. If it doesn’t, then they won’t. That isn’t the mindset for “success” in terms of money, but it definitely is the mindset for “true success” in terms of being happy for oneself. I respect Homezone for that, and I happen to be one of those individuals his style appeals to, so he’ll always get my listen.
