Finals Research & Exam Study
Throughout your exam periods, the Montague Law Library offers several services designed to create an inviting, welcoming environment that will enhance your study experience. We encourage you to take advantage of our facilities and these amenities as you prepare for your exams.
Study Spaces and Seating Arrangements:
Quiet Study Rooms (second floor) – These two spaces are silent study areas and will accommodate multiple users. There are three study carrels and a small table available in each room. Please note that Quiet Study Room 207 may occasionally be preempted by the Registrar for use as an exam room during the finals period.
Study Tables and Soft Seating – The lower level and second floor of the library contain a variety of seating arrangements. These areas are typically designed for quiet reading and research. Conversation should be minimal and kept at a whisper level.
Group Study Rooms – These three rooms are available for conversations and collaborative/group work. Each room includes a video screen for data projection. They can be reserved in advance – consult the reservations policy posted in the study rooms or at https://dickinsonlaw.psu.edu/library/study-rooms. Since these rooms are not soundproof, we ask users to be mindful of their noise levels to avoid disturbing others studying elsewhere in the library.
Study Snacks – Compliments of your Law Library:
Snack Basket — Yummy snacks and energy bars can be found at the Circulation Desk each evening, compliments of your Law Library staff. Help yourself! To be respectful of others, please refrain from eating messy or odoriferous foods in the library. The Law Library food and beverage policy can found here: https://dickinsonlaw.psu.edu/library/user-guidelines.
Take a Stress Break!
Take a break from studying and join us in the Law Library for a chance to de-stress through coloring and drawing. We will provide design pages (for individual and group use) and accompanying supplies to help relieve your stress and clear your mind. Want to relax after hours? Sheets will be available at the Circulation Desk 24/7 while supplies last.
Extended Staffed Hours:
The Law Library will be open and staffed two hours earlier than normal on Saturdays during finals.
Saturday, December 3rd and December 10th – the Circulation desk will open at 8:00 am to provide greater access to course reserve materials.
Cell Phones:
Please silence your cell phones; the law Library is a “no cell phone” zone. Talking on the phone is permitted in the group study rooms or outside the library.
On behalf of the Montague Law Library staff, we wish each of you a successful exam period and a relaxing and joyous holiday season! We look forward to seeing you back with us in 2017!
Thank you and enjoy your semester break.
