Pasta who doesn’t like pasta because I know I do. There are so many different selections to pasta. You can have ravioli, tortellini, angel hair, and so many more. With a wide variety of sauces. I could go on about pasta when give the opportunity. Knowing that I am sure you can assume that I also LOVE PASTA!!! Therefore, of course I was on a man hunt to discover a good Italian restaurant. I really wanted to find something affordable and yummy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any locations that drew my attention directly, therefore if you know of any good places drop them down below. Scrambling through the internet I came across a commonly known location called, Olive Garden.
My friends and I had wanted to find an opportunity in order to get dressed up and have a little friend dinner so when I came across Olive Garden, I thought its fancy and it’s Italian why not give it a shot. Also, I have visited the location previously in different locations back at home so why not have a chance to compare. It was decided Olive Garden it was!
The location of the restaurant is 1945 Waddle Rd, State College, PA 16803. Which is opened Monday through Thursday 11 am to 10 pm, also including Sunday. Friday’s and Saturday’s, it is opened from 11 am to 11 pm. It is about a 15-minute drive or a 30-minute bus ride. All my friends including myself have no possession of a vehicle on campus therefore we decided to take a bus ride. Which is very convenient for all college students? With a total of four dollars Penn State students can get a round trip by simply getting on the school bus system. If you are unsure of which bus to get on, iPhone users can download the CATA app. Another option could simply be searching it up on the internet.
Okay now back to the Pasta talking. Due to my prior history I was excited to eat and experience and fun event with all my friends. Unfortunately, we waited to be seating for about 45 minutes. Usually it doesn’t take that long and we had also gone when we happened to be the only ones in the waiting room. Which was upsetting now keeping in mind we were all hungry. After being seated we were all super excited, soon enough we meet our waitress which happened to be a classmate of one of my friends. Sad to say that her service what not what is should have been, but at the same time she was new, so it was okay. As soon as we received our meals, we were all excited cameras flashing ready to dive in. I choose what I ALWAYS get when I go there, yes probably boring but necessary because I think it is their best meal. I got the chicken and shrimp carbonara. Which you will see below.
My pasta was good although my sauce was broken and very greasy due to the bacon the pasta contains. Which only happens when a pasta isn’t made properly. Wondering how I might know this, FUN FACT: Both of my parents are in the culinary industry so you can image going to restaurants with both constantly commenting about my food, so I know some stuff here and there. Well back to the pasta’s, my friend’s chicken Alfredo with angel hair lacked sauce it was super dry. Overall compared to my trips back at home it was upsetting that it was not the same. I hope it was just one of their bad days because I love that place and I would love to go back. This is starting to get long so I can’t even get into how the waitress proceeded to harass my friend back in class to discuss how she so called “received a shitty tip”.
I’ve actually never gone to Olive Garden before but I am definitely intrigued. Also, I agree with Halle how I enjoyed your tip for getting there. I don’t have a car either so I can’t really go anywhere outside of campus but now I know how to get to Olive Garden.
Wow, what a story! I really liked how you tied in the convenience for college students to get there. Your story was so entertaining and I appreciated the honesty and critique of the food. Also, the waitress sounded pretty rude at the end.
I really enjoy your commentary about the pasta as well as your new experience with Olive Garden. I also found the pictures included to give me a personal experience. I love pasta too so I might have to go to Olive Garden sometime; hopefully I don’t get that waitress though.
