Even though the 2020s have just recently begun, there are many new songs and artists arising. The genres of the 2020s are similar to those in the past, but rap music and indie pop music have become increasingly popular.

The main goal of this blog is to name some of the albums produced in 2020 and which ones I have listened to (and give information about them) as well as albums/songs that have been recommended to me and therefore, I am recommending to you!See the source image

To start off with an album from 2020, the infamous year, we have an album by Tame Impala. It is entitled “The Slow Rush.” I have not listened to this full album, unfortunately, but I do particularly enjoy the songs “Borderline” and “One More Hour.” The vibe of these songs are very vibey, which is a terrible way to describe them, but they really are just cool and have some techno sounding qualities. They are good for a calm or hype mood as well.

It is cool in the way it had two separate songs occurring throughout the song. The verses have a different beat from the chorus and the change is noticeable, but it also works. The singer in Tennis also has a nice calming voice and the song overall has a fun vibe.See the source image

Now, onto an album from 2020 that I have listened to all the way through, “The New Abnormal” by The Strokes. This album was so nice to enjoy considering The Strokes have albums from the early 2000s and hadn’t had a new album since 2013, I was glad to see it live up to their other albums. I personally enjoy all the songs in the album, they have a nice alternative rock sound. However, my favorites have to be “The Adults Are Talking,” “Selfless,” “Bad Decisions,” “Not The Same Anymore,” and “Ode To The Mets.”

But I love her lyricism and the music she uses. My favorite songs are “Chinese Satellite,” “Moon Song,” “Savior Complex,” “Graceland Too,” and “I Know The End.” Phoebe Bridgers has mostly somber songs, but there is an upbeat song called “Kyoto” that has some sad lyrics, but an upbeat sound! This is definitely one of my favorite albums.

Lastly, my favorite “sister” albums are by the one and only Taylor Swift. The are called “Folklore” and “Evermore.” ISee the source image nearly lost it when I listened to Folklore for the first time. I immediately fell in love with the song “august” and for the last two years it has been my most listened to Taylor Swift song.

These albums are amazing because they are so different from her other albums. They are less pop and more indie and folk, however there are still pop aspects. I especially love in Folklore how there are three songs that describe three point of views of a love triangle. This was not told explicitly by Swift, but her lyrics gave clues to her fans about the story. These songs are “cardigan,” “august,” and “betty.” I won’t get into the story, but give them a listen and you’ll be able to figure it out. Moreover, my See the source imagefavorite songs from this album are “cardigan,” “mirrorball,” “august” (obviously), “invisible string,” and “the lakes – bonus track.”

Now, I love Evermore because it connects to Folklore in a similar but completely different vibe. Folklore is late summer/early fall and Evermore is late fall/early winter. My favorite songs from Evermore are “willow,” “champagne problems,” “gold rush,” “ivy,” “marjorie,” and “right where you left me – bonus track.”

With that, there are some nice albums to definitely listen to!
