I am an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State University. My passion is my teaching – I teach ~5 courses each academic year in our department ranging from undergraduate general education courses through upper level undergraduate and graduate level classes in radar meteorology, synoptic meteorology, weather forecasting, instrumentation, and technical science writing. I also hold an active research role in our department, focusing on topics in synoptic meteorology as well as innovations in education and weather forecasting. Areas of new research include exploring the properties of Rossby waves and wave breaking in the Northern Hemisphere in both the past as well as in future climate projections, and developing the Penn State University ReForecast Simulator (PSU-RFS), a novel new weather forecasting experience simulator targeted at training new weather forecasters and sharpening skills of seasoned forecasters.
