Throwback Thursday: The Suite Life of Zack and Cody

Important Note: I think that this semester I’m going to make my blog sort of like a throwback thursday except with TV shows. I’m going to about all the classics that we watched in the good old days so we can relive in their glory and maybe even appreciate all the little nuances we missed out on before. So sit back and get ready for a blast from the past each week.

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody was probably one of my favorite shows when I was a young tween. I wouldn’t even be exaggerating if I said that I’d seen all the episodes like ten times (okay, maybe that would be stretching it a little bit, but I have seen them an awful lot of times). And even though it’s been a while since I was saw the show, I’m pretty sure I can still recall most of the things that happened. So, let’s take a look back and reminisce about all the awesome moments and people on the show.

When Mr. Moseby tried to teach London how to drive.

London and Mr. Moesby had perhaps the most interesting relationship on the show. With London’s parents never around, Mr. Moseby was the closest thing to family that London ever had. He was there with her ever since she was wee little kid and they really meant so much to each other. I think nothing shows this more than the scene when Mr. Moseby tries to give London driving lessons. He’s so anxious and fidgety and easily annoyed and that’s basically any dad trying to teach his little girl how to drive. He loves London so much and it’s just hard for him to watch her grow up so fast. The episode like every other is packed with jokes, but it has a very sweet and sentimental message.

Esteban Julio Ricardo Montoya de la Rosa Ramírez

Taking things to a less serious note, let’s talk about Esteban. First things first, he had the best name ever (although filling out forms must be the absolute worst). Next, he is possibly the awesomest bellhop in the fictional universe. He always works so hard to make ends meet and you just wish he could catch a break (remember that one episode where he became rich because his family stuck oil, but then they lost it all?). And on top of that he has a pet chicken (Dudley). I would have loved to have been friends with him.

When the twins did… well anything, really.

Watching the show made me wish I lived in a hotel for the longest time. But then I realized that living in a hotel really wouldn’t be nearly as much fun as I imagined if there weren’t people like Zack and Cody around. Watching them pull their little shenanigans around the Tipton was the heart and soul of the show. Remember when they tried to keep a pet horse? Or the time they started a nightclub for kid? Or booked the hotel for an entomology convention and then accidentally set the termites free? They really had a suite life.

Oh my goodness! I am so excited to read all of your flashback blogs! I love reminiscing about the past! It doesn’t seem like these shows were that long ago, but they were! Remember when Moseby took the boys to a baseball game and robbed the Red Sox of a home run? He became “the most hated man in Boston.” I really enjoyed reading your blog and looking at all of the Suite Life memes. That was such an awesome show. Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to read next week’s blog. P.S. I love your writing style. It is very unique and keeps the reader’s attention.

  24. Marcus Erdman says:

Great show. I watched this a lot (it was one of the few shows that I could watch on Saturday mornings #nocableproblems). It definitely made me want to live in a hotel for a long time!

  25. I love this show and this blog so much! I love the new “Throwback Thursday” idea. I feel like this is going to be so much fun to read. That show was great for so many reasons, especially because it showed the importance of family and parents. The boys had divorced parents, London’s parents were never around, and Esteban had family in a different country, yet they all found “family” within the hotel. I hate that they ruined this with Suite Life on Deck.

  26. Jessica Yun says:

I loved this show so much! also I really like how you are focusing your blog posts about the past shows. So clever. Anyways, I can’t believe how young I were back in the days when I watched this show. It quite amazing that we grew into college students and how zach and cody grew into young adults. good times 🙂

  27. Helen Tang says:

Haha, this was one of the few shows that I legitimately enjoyed on the Disney Channel. Mr. Moseby is the greatest.
