Members of your department may participate (via Zoom) for a one-hour workshop with a professional teaching artist.
Workshops are for all skill levels. Most workshops require supplies that participants readily have at home, or can easily obtain.
Most people have favorite mindless doodles that are drawn when the mind wanders. This class will start with several creative prompts that will start with doodling, then add in simple art elements such as shape and repetition. We will not be formally meditating, however each creative prompt will promote relaxation through repetition and creative flow.
Working with the basics of shadow and light, using your own hand as subject matter, this art workshop is a step-by-step on how to create depth when drawing a basic object by working with shades of gray and the direction of the light. All you need is a pencil and paper and your hand.
In this workshop artist Gail Jones will take you on the journey of turning paper from home into an expressive piece of your creativity. You will learn the fundamentals of Mosaic Paper Art.
Mandalas are circular designs, with a center around which revolves an organized, repeating design. The design of the Mandala represents wholeness and symbolizes unity in the World and unity in our personal lives.
Participants will be introduced to Mandala design, learn its history and uses, then create their own mandalas.
This session is a guided breathing and movement workshop that can be done via Zoom in a location of your choice. You may sit in a study chair or bed. A circular object such as an orange or small ball will be used.
Learn the basics of watercolor techniques and different kinds of applications. This session requires participants to pick up supplies at a designated location at Penn State Health prior to the Zoom session.
Dance with Attack Theatre
Attack Theatre’s arts in education programs utilize movement and dance to enhance problem solving and critical analysis skills, build interdisciplinary connections, cultivate communication and cooperation skills, explore abstract thinking, develop self-confidence, promote healthy living, explore the creative process, and create a deeper understanding of dance as an art form.
Paper Book Collage
Collage is the art of assembling and arranging a collection
of papers, materials, or objects to form a new composition.
In this workshop, participants will create a small handmade book from one sheet of paper and practice collage as they illustrate their book with images gathered from magazines, photographs, and memorabilia. Making art requires us to be totally present with process. Find out how that presence restores us.
