  1. Hi Kyler,
I just read Haunting of Hill House back in July. I absolutely loved it! If you enjoyed Shirley Jackson’s writing, I highly recommend We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It, like Haunting, expertly builds up a sense of dread, and it too, has a manic, unreliable narrator in Merricat. Also, if you enjoyed the Netflix adaptation of Haunting, I recommend Mike Flanagan’s Fall of the House of Usher, which just came out last month on Netflix.

  2. This blog delves into Shirley Jackson’s “The Haunting of Hill House,” skillfully capturing its eerie atmosphere and psychological depths. Eleanor’s quest for belonging within the haunted house adds a poignant layer to the classic horror narrative, with the analysis of the house as a malevolent force exploiting her vulnerabilities sending chills. The blog adeptly explores characters’ fears and the psychological horror, and the tragic conclusion, where Eleanor chooses to stay in the house even in death, prompts intriguing questions about loneliness. As a reader, it left me contemplating the haunting themes, making it a captivating read for those intrigued by the deeper dimensions of horror literature.
