Hello! This week I will be taking a break from makeup to discuss my first week on Curology! I’m very excited to be reviewing this skincare regimen and if you are curious about my other skincare posts, you can click here to learn about my typical routine, and here to learn about how to build your own!

I’ve heard about Curology for a while now and what finally sent me over the edge of trying it was this girl on my dorm floor. She has incredible skin and I asked her what she uses and she said Curology. Now, I’ll try anything once, but I’ve very weary of trying new things when it comes to skincare, especially a whole new routine. I’m not entirely happy with my skin’s normal state, but I’ve found some products that help keep it looking decent, so it makes sense as to why I’m hesitant to disrupt that.

I started the process by going to the Curology website and clicking “start trial.” Once I filled out my prior history with acne medications (and there was a lot!) I sent in some before photographs, seen on above. These photos were taken exactly one week ago, before I first applied Curology to my face. After I submitted all of my information, it was time to wait! A few days later, I got an email saying that a dermatologist had reviewed my information and had created a custom treatment plan. The trial of Curology comes with a sample size of their mild cleanser, a sample size of their moisturizer (you can pick between a regular one or a more hydrating one for dryer skin, I chose the regular), and a sample size of your custom formula. My formula’s main ingredients are Zinc Pyrithione 0.25%, Clindamycin 1%, and Niacinamide 4%. The Zinc is an antimicrobial that tackles acne-causing fungi and bacteria. The Clindamycin is an antibacterial that fights inflammation an acne-causing bacteria. Lastly, the Niacinamide is a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation, dark spots, and fine lines. As directed, I apply this cream all over my face nightly and top it off with the moisturizer.
After one week, my skin doesn’t seem to have changed for the better. I know that with many regimens your skin adjusts by bringing all the gunk to the surface before clearing out, so things may get worse before they get better. I hope to see some real progress in the next few weeks and I will keep you all updated! Below are some photos I took while writing this to document my one week process!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Last week will return to the regular makeup posts 🙂
