MMS Week Four: Is Amazon Taking Over the World?
July 31, 2019
MMS WEEK FOUR!
Do you think Amazon has taken over the world yet?
I certainly do, but the company just took it over on a much bigger scale.
Recently, Amazon just quietly launched their new online store called AmazonCommercial.
AmazonCommercial offers bulk orders of toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues. This branch of the Amazon company is supposed to compete with other retailers such as Kimberly-Clark and Walmart.
Now, AmazonCommercial targets business-to-business sectors, aiming to create and build relationships with big companies all over the nation. The Amazon company is a worldwide phenomenon, known for its overnight shipping and awesome customer service. AmazonCommercial plans to take their office supplies to the next level, granting businesses with overnight shipping to beat their competitors.
In the United States alone, Amazon accounts for 38% of all internet commerce. This is a huge number, and The Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission are currently investigating the technology within the company. The Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission claim that Amazon as “tech giants who are too powerful.”
Honestly, I love Amazon. I have loved Amazon ever since I became a loyal member to Amazon Prime. It is really a luxury being able to order something online, and have it sitting on your doorstep in two days. My family also loves Amazon Prime, because we are able to order clothing and technological gadgets whenever we need it.
I am not surprised that the The Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission are investigating into the company of Amazon, because I think they are a powerhouse among internet companies. Whenever I need something, my parents always tell me to order it off Amazon. They dominate any other online companies around the world, and so I understand why they are investigating into the logistics of the company.
I feel like this is one big step for Amazon, because soon smaller companies that sell things in bulk will have to compete with them. I feel bad for the smaller companies, because everyone loves Amazon and will soon switch to buying things from them. Will the small companies be able to survive this one? I guess we’ll find out.
