Understanding the Smoothie King Menu

When many customers come to Smoothie King for the first time, they seem overwhelmed, flustered, and confused.  These feelings are a result of the extensive menu. Walk-in customers survey the menu for an extensive period of time before stepping up to the counter.  Drive-thru customers take more than “just a minute” to decide. The Smoothie King menu is broken down into four categories with multiple smoothies in each one.  Within each smoothie, there are typically several flavors followed by a list of ingredients. As you may be envisioning right now, there are a plethora of options.  With this abundance, many people do not know where to start. However, the menu is strategically arranged, and any Smoothie King employee should be able to guide you through it.  Helping customers find the perfect smoothie is one of my favorite parts of the job!

For those of you who haven’t been to Smoothie King, I am going to give you a run down of the menu so that you are not perplexed if you ever make a stop for a smoothie with a purpose.  For those of you have been to Smoothie King, I hope this gives you a better understanding of the menu and gives you the knowledge to be interested in trying a new smoothie.

The four categories are Fitness Blends, Slim Blends, Wellness Blends, and Take a Break Blends.

Let’s start with the Fitness Blends.  These smoothies are high in protein which makes them ideal for a post-workout smoothie or for anybody that is trying to “bulk.”  In order to determine which smoothies in this category have the highest amounts of protein, start at the top of the menu and work down to the bottom: They are ordered from top to bottom by decreasing amounts of protein.

Next, there are the Slim Blends.  While many of these smoothies still have enough protein to be considered Meal Replacements, they are lower in calories than the Fitness Blends.  These are perfect for people who are looking to get their protein without intaking a significant amount of calories.

Then, there are the Wellness Blends.  In this category, you can find vegan smoothies, veggie blends, mixed berry ones, and more.  These smoothies are not high in protein but are ideal for people looking for a healthy, fruity or veggie smoothie.  Many of these smoothies also include enhancers, such as immune support, probiotics, etc.; hence, they are beneficial for the drinker’s wellness.

Finally, there are the Take a Break Blends.  I would describe these as your typical dessert smoothie.  If you’re looking for a classic fruit smoothie, like a strawberry banana, and are not worried about calories or added sugar, this is the category for you.  While many of the smoothies in this category include Turbinado (added raw cane sugar), this ingredient can be taken out of any smoothie. Doing so “[makes] it skinny” as it cuts the calories by 100.

With such a wide variety, there is truly a smoothie for everyone and for every circumstance!  Hopefully, this overview has given you some insight on how to navigate the menu, but never be afraid to ask the employee for guidance.

  1. I’ve never been to Smoothie King, but I love smoothies so I would want to try. My favorite smoothie I used to make at home was a peanut butter banana smoothie.

  2. I have never actually been to Smoothie King. But, from this blog alone, the menu seems very confusing and quite overwhelming.

  3. Great rundown of the menu. It is really cool how organized they made their menu. I have never been to a smoothie king but I feel comfortable with the menu now if I ever choose to go.

  4. I have never even heard of a Smoothie King, so I had to look at your blog ideas post to figure out what this topic was haha. However, I study nutrition often so I was pretty aware of what you were talking about and was interested in that way. It reminded me in some aspects of the menu at Jamba Juice.

  5. Nice Article! When a guest is overwhelmed they will default to a safe item, not necessarily the best item for the guest. Great job on putting together the categories. It also helps when you name the menu item so the guest doesn’t have to read the description in order to understand the item. Helping a guest find their new favorite item will help bring the guest back! And that is what it all about these days!

  6. Great article, but the mental load of ordering makes it so I only ho when the kids have a major accomplishment and ask to go.
