Beijing

Today, we are travelling to the Capital of China—Beijing. This city is definitely one of the most well known places in China. It witnesses and records the history and flourish of this great country. This time I would like to introduce you to several places that you have to go to if you do travel to Beijing in the future—not only places of interest but also places to eat at.

u=3920260665,2943777824&fm=56Talking about Beijing, this is probably the first thing that you are thinking of—the Great Wall. The Great Wall is certainly the World’s Greatest, and it symbolizes the finest work of art in the ancient China. Our ancestors built it 2,000 years ago, and today most parts of the Great Wall are still remaining in good shapes. The Great Wall travels all the way from the western China to the east with a length of more than 6,700 kilometers (around 4,200 miles). I still remember the only one time that I got onto the Great Wall being amazed by this great piece of artwork and its ultimate beauty.

Besides the Great Wall, there are still lots of great places to visit in China, but I’m not going to spend time doing an introduction for each one since they are pretty famous to the point that you could easily find thousands of links related to them just by tying their names into Google.

Above are the places that most of the foreigners usually go to when they travel to China. I’m not saying that they aren’t worth going, but that you should go to more than only these places that everyone who has been to China has gone to. Going to China is a great spent, and you definitely want to get the best experience out of all.

Go to the National Museum of China and spend one or even two days there. You can learn a great deal about China in the museum since it basically records the past 5,000 years of Chinese history. It’s not going to be boring there since everything is coming back to life, and definitely go if you are a photographer–you are going to find surprise!

There is one more place that you should really go to–especially those who are interested in art and photography. It’s called 798 Art Zone, and it’s one of the most well develped art zones in China. It uses to be an old industry, and now it’s built into art centers, galleries, studios, design companies, and bars.

When you are travelling to Bejing, one thing that you have to try is the Peking Duck–definitely don’t miss out on this one! Based on all the places that I’ve eaten at, I would recommend Dadong Duck. It was so good that I seriously ate an entire plate of these.

thumbGo to Bejing once you have the chance to go! It’s one of my favorite places to go in China!

It’s incredible that there is so much going on in one city! I think it would be so neat to have the chance to visit Beijing, and I hope that one day I’ll have the chance to tour not only the normal tourist sites, but I also hope to visit some of the lesser known areas of the city that you discussed.

I’ve actually always wanted to go here.. I think it would be really useful to learn a little bit of Chinese then study abroad in China for a semester. If I ever end up doing that, I will definitely use this as a frame of reference.

I think the food captured most of my attention! All these places look magnificent; I cannot imagine having enough time to see them all.

I like that you’re not going with the typical Beijing route that many potential tourists take. While the places you listed as not ones to go to sound pretty great, I do agree that there are some underrated beauties in China. As well as there are underrated beauties in America (Bethlehem, PA). I really like the idea of duck too, sounds real interesting.

It is really cool how you included a wide variety of places, other than all of the big sites in Beijing. You sorta opened a secret portal to parts of China I know I wasn’t aware about.
