A career workshop designed to help Students, Post-Docs, and Professionals in Science, Engineering, and Technology developing the skills necessary to achieve their career objectives, and to provide information about careers in industry.
Speakers
Hojong Kim, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Materials science and Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University
After graduate research, Dr. Kim worked as a senior research engineer at Samsung-Corning Precision Glass Co. Ltd to improve the process yield for thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) glass manufacturing by engineering high temperature refractory materials. After five years of industrial experience, Dr. Kim returned to MIT as a post-doctoral associate and later as a research scientist to contribute to the growing need for sustainable technology. He conducted research on high temperature electrochemical processes, including molten oxide electrolysis for carbon-free iron production and liquid metal batteries for large-scale energy storage.
Jesun Hwang, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Scholar, Human Factors Engineering Program, Industrial Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University
Dr. Jesun Hwang joined Samsung Electronics in 2011 after obtaining his Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. At Samsung Electronics, Dr.Hwang served multiple roles; a researcher, a design strategist, and a division appointee. As a researcher, he worked on UX prototype and boosting usability. Especially, he applied 3D multi-touch for the next generation of predictive-touch UX on any large display. In addition to the research role, as a design strategist, he provided strategic roadmap and offering concept. Lastly, he even provided in business strategy and user experience while he served as VD division appointee.
In Jung Kim, Ph.D. Student.
Ph.D. student, Computer Science and Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University
Ms. In Jung Kim joined Korea Telecom Co. in 2011 after completing two Master’s studies in Computer Science from Columbia University and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). She was responsible for developing and managing private cloud services. She also worked at AhnLab as a research engineer where she worked on game anti-hacking and online bank-security products.
