December 29, 2019 – January 5, 2020
This is a 7-day embedded program for all the students in the Arabic Language Program regardless to their proficiency level in Arabic. This program provides a great opportunity for the students to apply what they have learned and practiced at Penn State in immersion context, and expand their understanding of the Jordanian history, culture, and society. Students will explore the rich history of Jordan through the guided tours in Amman, the multicultural capital of Jordan, Bethany, the Dead Sea, and Petra. The program also includes a visit to a local university in Amman and opportunities for interaction with local students and lecturers.
Embedded Course Information
Eligible participants must be enrolled in at least one Arabic course (ARAB 001, 003, 295, 401, 495, or 497) for the Fall 2019 semester. Participants will also be enrolled in the one-credit course, ARAB 099 or 499, which is associated with this embedded program with assignments that correspond with the level of their residential Arabic course.
Note: Students will be enrolled in the one-credit course for the Spring 2020 semester because the travel component of the course technically occurs during the Spring semester.
This additional credit may or may not add to a student’s cost of tuition depending on their part-time vs. full-time student status in the Spring 2020 semester. If you are a full-time student enrolled in 12 credits or more for the Spring semester, this 1 credit course will not add additional cost to your tuition because it will be part of your full-time semester tuition. Please visit the Penn State Tuition website for additional information about tuition costs. Tuition costs are NOT included in the embedded program fee.
