The LASR lab had a successful and eventful week in Chicago, IL sharing their work to various audiences!
Members of LASR lab collaborated on a joint presentation sharing their work and the implications of their research at the headquarters of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA). Topics discussed included School Readiness, Reading and Language, Emotion Regulation, Neurological Implications of Stress, Academic Engagement and the Impact of Parents and Caregivers – all within the context of supporting academic readiness for children who have experienced child abuse or neglect.
LASR lab also presented their research to academic audiences at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference in a variety of poster and paper sessions:
- Verbal and Nonverbal Intelligence Development in Children with Maltreatment Histories (poster by Samantha Ellner, Dr. Claire Selin and Dr. Carlomagno Panlilio)
- Language Skills Predicting Later Reading Achievement for Welfare-Involved Children (poster by Samantha Ellner, Dr. Claire Selin and Dr. Carlomagno Panlilio)
- Adversity, Engagement and Later Achievement: The Role of Emotion Regulation (poster by Dr. Casey Mullins, Samantha Ellner, Lilyan Falcon and Dr. Carlomagno Panlilio)
- Examining the Role of Sustained Attention on Reading Outcomes within A Context of Childhood Adversity (paper presented by Charles Alvarado and Dr. Carlomagno Panlilio)
