A boy finds himself in a coming-of-age ceremony where his future wife will present him with a ring. It is a tradition that the community has gathered to see, and he takes his place on the stage among other boys with their paired mate. However, this community is a cult are dedicated to an insect, the praying mantis, and things happen to stray into the territory of the unplanned and unforeseen.
