In recent years, women have begun to take over the business field. In 2021, 49% of new businesses were created by women. However, globally 1 in 3 business owners are women, which is less than what it should be.
A name to recognize is Katharine Graham. In 1963, she became the owner of the Washington Post, which was unheard of for women at the time. Fortune 500 companies was next to impossible for women to reach. After becoming the owner, she became the lead publisher from 1969 to 1979 and the CEO and Board Chair from 1973 to 1991. During her time there, she oversaw the release of the Pentagon Papers and the report of the Watergate scandal. Katharine proved to women of that time that they can succeed in business.
