It’s impossible to convey everything that needs to be said within class–inevitably, announcements must be posted and emails must be exchanged between meetings. For my course communication, I have found it useful to consolidate correspondence in Canvas. When I need to send longer messages, I use the “Conversations” tool, which allows me to quickly select all my students as recipients. You can see a message composed using this function below:
The other tool I use is “Announcements,” which I employ when my message is short. Students receive a notification when I post an announcement.
This tool does have one advantage over “Conversations,” because within the “Announcement” interface, I can create hyperlinks to other locations within our course site:
