This analysis to me is so true. Coming from an italian family I find my uncles to act as if they are above others. And also as if they know everything. I find most italian males to be this way. And frankly they have their own dialog. The way they speak is also funny. They could be very educated but put them together and their speech totally changes.

I also see examples of TA in my relationships. The 3 ego states involved in TA include: parent, child, and adult (Northouse, 2013). Northouse further explains how the child state can be divided into free or adapted (2013). To me, it sounds like your uncles are in more of a free child state than any other when they are carrying on as you described. It sounds kind of cute!
I find the “crossed transactions” mentioned by Northouse (2013) very informational (p. 325). It helps explain stresses we experience as parents in dealing with argumentative teens! The theory also gives me a sense of “approval” for having those times when I want to behave a little childish and let that fun side come out.
