Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to my blog. So glad you all could make it. If it is your first time here, no worries, you can read all about my blog in my first blog post here. A little life update from me: I have still been loyal to the gym recently, although I slacked off a bit over Thanksgiving break and got a bit fat from all of the turkey I ate. I am really happy with my gains in the gym though with my bench press increasing. I haven’t really been swimming much as I have been studying hard for finals. I’m doing pretty well in my classes, so if you put in the work you can succeed in both classes and the gym. I am really excited for the end of the semester because then I can go home and I will be able to see all of my hometown friends again. Also, I have had trouble getting enough sleep, so that is something I need to work on.
Now let’s get into the exercise of the week: Hamstring Curls!
The hamstring curl, also known as the leg curl, is a targeted resistance exercise designed to isolate and strengthen the muscles of the hamstrings located on the back of the thigh. Typically performed using a dedicated hamstring curl machine, the exercise involves the following steps: Begin by adjusting the machine to align your body correctly. Position yourself face down on the machine, with your lower legs secured under the padded lever and your upper legs resting on the provided bench. Grasp the handles for stability, and then, using your hamstrings, curl your legs upward toward your glutes, lifting the padded lever. Hold the contraction briefly before slowly lowering the lever back to the starting position. The hamstring curl effectively targets the hamstring muscles, contributing to improved leg strength, stability, and overall lower body development. It is particularly beneficial for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals looking to enhance their posterior chain strength. Proper form is essential to maximize the exercise’s effectiveness and minimize the risk of injury. For a video click here.
