Project Summary

Overview

At the beginning of the 2021 Fall Semester, American Crane and Equipment Corporation asked us to create the prototype of the “Innovative Ski Boot Buckle Activation Device”. However, the initial prototype provided to us was so rough that it had no method for attachment to the boot whatsoever. In this case, our team had to start from the beginning and generate the designs from scratch.

Objectives

– Create a usable Prototype (With both CAD Model and the physical one).

– Accomplish all the required project files.

– Stay in frequent and efficient communications with all stakeholders.

Approach

– Brainstorm for Concept Generating.

– Advice from Weekly Staff Meetings for Prototype Design.

– Site Research at the Ski Boots Store to Gather Data of universal buckles.

– CAD Drawing and Modification for different Stages of Prototypes.

– 3D Printer for creating the Physical Prototypes.

– Gathering Feedback from Weekly Sponsor Meeting (Online) and Ski Club Members.

– Field Testing for reliability and sustainability of the prototype.

Outcomes

– Our sponsor will save $929.2 as the result of this project.

– The final prototype is usable and gained a lot of positive feedback during the showcase.

– CAD models, Physical Prototypes (All Progression), and other professional Project Files.
