Project Summary

Overview

The Discovery Space of Central PA is interested in the creation and deployment of a new exhibit which makes use of a Theremin in a fun and engaging way. A theremin is a musical instrument that is played without any contact by the performer. The sounds are made by adjusting the pitch and volume through distance from the antennas. Our project is to be constrained to the music room of the Discovery Space. The Theremin is to be available for use by visitors to the location, many of whom are young children. As a result, our design should be robust enough to be interacted with by these visitors without breaking.

Objectives

– Create a theremin which will be located in the music room at the Discovery Space of Central PA.

– Make the exhibit geared towards children (some kind of game).

– Make the exhibit a rugged design for children to be able to interact with.

– Easy to operate for the staff at the Discovery Space

Approach

– Had weekly sponsor meeting

– Research possible designs online

– Tested our prototype with our target audience for feedback

– Changed our final design based on the testing feedback

Outcomes

– Have working code

– Have complete documentation of our design and research

– Have a working prototype
