Project Summary

For this project, our class was tasked with finding a way to improve one aspect of grocery stores. Upon conducting background research and deciding where the problems lie, we decided our best course of action would be to find a way to improve the efficiency of grocery stores. We conducted field research by interviewing peers about their shopping store experience, specifically related to efficiency. We found there was a commonality amongst most people we talked to, where they could not stand crowds, didn’t like the checkout experience, and found that searching for items was difficult. We all created about 15 different ideas of inventions to solve these problems, and then went through several rounds of prototyping and interviews to land on one final design. This is where we landed on the A Cart, a shopping cart that can provide directions to any item in the store, allow you to checkout from a tablet, and overall make your life easier.
