Pyatt elected to Society of American Archivists Council

Tim Pyatt, Dorothy Foehr Huck Chair and head of The Eberly Family Special Collections Library at Penn State, has been elected for a three-year term to the Society of American Archivists (SAA) Council, the governing body of the organization. Pyatt and two other members will serve on the council from 2013–2016.

Founded in 1936, SAA is North America’s oldest and largest national archival professional association. SAA’s mission is to serve the educational and informational needs of more than 6,000 individual and institutional members and to provide leadership to ensure the identification, preservation and use of records of historical value.

Pyatt, who will attend a fall and spring meeting in addition to the annual conference, notes, “I am honored to be elected and look forward to playing a larger role in advocating for the archival profession and the historical record as part of SAA’s leadership.”
