The Association of American University Presses, a global organization of mission-driven scholarly publishers, has selected five Penn State University Press titles to showcase in its annual Book, Jacket, and Journal Show. The show highlights book design across seven categories. This year, 241 books, two journals, and 320 jacket and cover designs were submitted for a total of 563 entries. The jurors selected 50 books and 50 jackets and covers as the very best examples from this pool of excellent design.

The Penn State University Press titles selected for inclusion in this year’s show are Nature’s Truth: Photography, Painting, and Science in Victorian Britain by Anne Helmreich and Painting the Hortus deliciarum: Medieval Women, Wisdom, and Time by Danielle Joyner in the category of Scholarly Illustrated; Serious Nonsense: Groundhog Lodges, Versammlinge, and Pennsylvania German Heritage by William W. Donner in the category of Trade Illustrated; Measuring Shadows: Kepler’s Optics of Invisibility by Raz Chen-Morris and The Walking Med: Zombies and the Medical Image edited by Lorenzo Servitje and Sherryl Vint in the Jackets & Covers category.
