Testimonial from 2012-2013 Innovation Microgrant recipient Linda Musser:

Power to the People – Safely

The microgrant I received in 2012 allowed me to purchase 9 portable batteries to loan to users for use with their personal devices (e.g., smart phones and laptops). Five different models were purchased so we could compare capabilities and see which users preferred. It was very beneficial to be able to purchase the various models for comparison since no amount of browsing online can compare to actual in-hand testing. Without the microgrant, I would have had to guess which of the batteries would best suit our needs. It was a great chance to leverage a little bit of money to experiment with something new and different.

Testimonial from 2012-2013 Innovation Microgrant recipient Robyn Reed on the Penn State Hershey Data Management Symposium

“The Harrell Health Sciences Library and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute hosted ‘Data Management in Biomedical Research: Information Challenges and Practical Strategies’ at Penn State Hershey, on March 26, 2013. Experts from Penn State Hershey and University Park campuses provided clinical and basic sciences researchers with information and resources on a wide range of data management topics. Michael Conlon, associate director and COO of the CTSI at the University of Florida, delivered an excellent keynote address on national trends and challenges in data management, citing examples from his home institution. More than 125 people attended the symposium in person, while an additional 66 watched via Mediasite live or on demand. Survey feedback was very positive and suggested attendees gained valuable information. The PI of the project will continue to assist researchers by creating resources on data management plans and connecting them to helpful tools. The symposium was a huge success and very well received!”
