Ted Talk Slides

I’m not sold on the shade of green I chose, so that might change, but everything else is set up other than minor details.

WordPress seriously reduces the quality of anything I add, so please bear with me.

Standard introduction slide to make sure everyone understands what I’m talking about. I need to come up with a different phrasing though because I explore the transition- so I might end up putting it as “the transition of the job market”

I’m going to be talking about the standard 9-5 office job, so an office space felt appropriate.

I then transition into other traditions that we as a society are leaving in the dust- like the house in the suburbs

This is data about teleworking, since that is part of a nontraditional shift that has come around due to the pandemic.

This talks about how 30% of people were self-employed or hired by those self-employed in 2014. This highlights how self-employment is not a new option, but there was exponential growth due to the pandemic.

This statistic talks about the possibility of more automated jobs in the future, which is another reason self-employment is becoming a more popular route. People would rather jump ship when they can then wait to be fired and replaced by a machine.

This last statistic touches on wage stagnation. Only the top 10% have seen salary increases, and with self-employment, the sky is the limit if you can figure out how to make a profit well.

I feel like I need an ending slide, and because I’m posing questions at the end, I might just be cheesy and have a question mark for the final slide.

  1. Very simple and easy to follow! I think this will be a great template for your TED Talk. Personally, I feel like you need an ending slide as well. It will solidify your overall message.

  2. I really like the green, I think it complements your images well. I also like how you use charts to supplement your discussion. My only suggestion for the map would be to make sure your viewer has enough time to digest it before moving on. I think you have the perfect balance between data and images. I agree that you need an ending slide, but it doesn’t have to be extravagant- just a simple wrap-up so the viewer has some closure.
