Edmodo is a classroom management tool that is used for communication, community building, and evaluation. In addition to establishing connections between learners in a classroom, through Edmodo instructors can also connect and share resources with colleagues throughout the world working in similar learning environments. The connectivity of Edmodo allows for both learners and instructors to exchange ideas asynchronously in the form of written posts, photos, and videos (Churchill et al., 2016). The social intelligence and community building learners develop through Edmodo are important 21st century learning skills (Gerstein, 2013). Edmodo also has useful administrative and evaluative features such as the assignment and quiz tools. Assignments and quizzes can be uploaded and taken on Edmodo with grades recorded automatically or manually depending on evaluation format. Edmodo’s evaluation tools allow for self-monitoring of progress which further drives the learner centered experience (Churchill et al., 2016). While Edmodo allows for creative expression through sharing of photos and videos, from a language perspective, it would be useful to have a simple audio upload feature as well.
