If you like absolute quiet, then you should study at…
THE STACKS
The stacks are so quiet that you could hear a pin drop… it’s almost eerie. You will hear every pencil drop, every cough of the fellow stacks residents around you. This is the perfect place to go when you really need to hammer out a project or get some studying done with peace and quiet and absolutely zero distractions. With 45,000+ people your age in one place, it’s easy to get distracted and see people you know around campus when studying, so the stacks offer a studious safe haven for efficiency and accomplishment.
If you are social and studious, then you should study at…
THE HUB
The HUB is a great place to meet up for group projects, lunch dates, meetings, and everything in between. It’s the best place to go when you want to see people you know or hang out with a big group because of the long tables that are conducive to group hangouts. The HUB is also conveniently open all the time and has lots of food options, like Starbucks to give you that caffeine boost if you need it. If you are distracted easily by others, this probably isn’t the place for you.
If you like someplace off the beaten path, then you should study at…
DOWNTOWN CAFES such as Saint’s, Webster’s, or Irving’s
Each downtown cafe has its own unique personality and they can be an awesome place to make your own if you become a regular. Irving’s is more mainstream and popular, while Saint’s and Webster’s are lesser known and quieter, but have their own flair.
If you like to study somewhere with food, then you should study at…
KERN BUILDING (With Au Bon Pain)
The new addition of Au Bon Pain in Kern has expanded study space, added outlets, and created a great atmosphere for indulging in delicious Au Bon Pain treats while getting work done simultaneously. Kern Building may be a bit of a hike, unless you live in West Halls, but it is easily reachable by all four of the free campus bus routes. Just don’t stay here for too long, or you’ll keep going back for more and more!
