When choosing what school for your college journey, I’m sure most people look for a place that feels like home and will make them wish they could be a college student forever. As a sophomore at Penn State I can proudly say, like many others, that I have found that place. Here are just a few reasons why Penn State has been everything and more for many many students:
1. Because of Beaver Stadium on a Saturday Getting up at 7 am to sit at your computer and wait for the season ticket sale to open is never easy for a college student during the summer. But going to the opening home game makes it all worth it. It is pretty hard to describe to a non-Penn Stater student the feeling of being in the student section with 21,000 of your closest friends who are all singing to “Sweet Caroline.”
2. Because Our Campus is a Work of Art It’s honestly breath taking to walk up to the Pattee and Paterno Library on a beautiful spring day with the flowers blossoming or to walk through the Shortlidge Mall in the begging of fall and to see the red maples in full bloom. Even on the bitterest cold days of winter, the beauty of our campus reminds me exactly why I chose to come here.
3. Because No Other School Can Say They Have the Largest Student Run Philanthropy in the World Like Beaver Stadium, trying to explain to someone what it feels like to stand on your feet dancing for 46 hours while raising more than $13 million in only a year for kids that are battling pediatric cancer is indescribable. Joining a committee or getting involved with an org makes the one weekend in February even more incredible and something you will remember for the rest of your life.
Because We Are and Always Will be Penn State Through thick and thin, good and bad, Penn Staters have stayed devoted to PSU, and for good reasons. The 2014 U.S. News and World Report ranked Penn State as the 52nd top university around the world for our graduation rates, academics and admission numbers. Like our academics, many sports team have dominated like the women’s volleyball team, who has won 7 national titles and the fencing program, who has received a total of 13 national titles
Other than these, there are many more reasons as to why you should choose Penn State to be your home this next fall. I hope this helps with your decision-making and remember WE ARE PENN STATE!
