UPUA basically serves as the student governing body for the University Park campus. UPUA gives students the opportunity to have student representatives present at all levels of the Penn State administration to ensure that Penn State makes decisions that will better student life. They propose legislation, such as allowing students to drop an unlimited amount classes past the add/drop period, which is then voted on by the UPUA general assembly, which is made up of representatives from each academic college. While all meetings of UPUA are open to the public, you have to be elected into the general assembly. Not only does this help better the Penn State community, but it also is a great resume builder!
- ARHS
- The Association of Residence Hall Students is the student government of Penn State residence life! Here you can directly help make decisions based on bettering both your current and future housing experience. They also work to ensure that your campus live is so much more than just dorm life through bettering quality of campus meals and direct work with dining halls. Not only does ARHS focus on bettering your campus life, but it also is the main group behind supplying your free HUB latenight movies! If you want to have a say in the activities that go on in your housing area, joining ARHS is a great way to make your dreams a reality.
- Student councils
- Each academic college has their own student council. This is a great way to get directly involved with your major. These groups often work side by side with the academic advising office which not only gives you some great connections within your college, but it helps you gain a bigger understanding of your college! Groups often host both academically stimulating and professionally beneficial events such as resume workshops, professional speakers and so much more!
