So I’m pretty sure that almost every person in America between the ages of 16 — 24 uses Snapchat in some way. I’m not gonna lie, its kind of a big deal here also.
I can remember when Snapchat was just starting to become mainstream. It was my freshman year of college and I had an iPhone 4 (seems like such a dinosaur now). My downstairs neighbor told me about this new app and I decided to download and try it. Back then, there were no stories and dog filters, there wasn’t even an option to send videos; we just sent good old fashion pictures with funny captions.
But look at us now! What a time to be alive where there is a filter that contours my face and make me look flawless! But this is all to show how much of an impact Snapchat has here. Campus Story is like an exclusive club that everyone wants to get into. People will do some crazy things to try and get their 15 minutes of fame. I recently just made it unto campus story and all I did was sing. And badly at that. Two days after that, one of my snaps made it again after I was able to catch my friend dropping her Chic-Fil-A on the ground and her priceless reaction.
Campus Story for us is part of the Penn State experience. It tells us what our peers are up to, things that are going on, and trends to look out for. The great thing about Snapchat is that it’s so current. There are classes that I’ve taken because I’ve seen something cool happen on Snapchat. The only reason I knew about the media commons in the library was because I saw someone post it on Snapchat. And who knows. In a couple years there might be a new app on the rise, but the important thing is to stay fresh and stay engaged!
