This semester plenty of new additions have been added to State College that students are raving about. From food places to phone apps, this town gets even better to live in every day! Here are some of the newest things found in State College:
Uber is a phone application that lets you find a taxi easily and pay them through your phone. So bringing your wallet everywhere is unnecessary! Another big advantage for students is that with Uber you can split your taxi fares between groups of people by simply pressing a button. Uber can pick you up anywhere because it uses your phone’s GPS to find your location. So even if you have no idea where you are (freshmen, I’m looking at you) Uber will be able to send the nearest car to pick you up!
Pocket Points is an application on your phone that gives you points for the amount of time you sit in a classroom and don’t touch your phone. How it works is that it detects if you are in an on-campus classroom, and all you have to do is turn the app on and lock your phone for the remainder of the period. Local restaurants and stores are on it and offer special deals for people with certain amounts of points. For example, if you get 50 points, you can “buy one, get one free entrée at Rotelli.”
Not only are phone apps revolutionizing Penn State, but also so are a variety of new restaurants! Primanti Brothers has recently opened downtown and is a huge hit with the students, especially those from Pittsburgh who feel like it’s a little taste of home. Primanti’s is known for their amazing sandwiches and great deals.
Although Order Up has been around for quite some time, they have added a number of new restaurants for delivery which has everyone talking. Some of these restaurants include Green Bowl, Bagel Crust, Olive Garden, and Faccia Luna. Thanks to all its new additions, Order Up now delivers from 71 restaurants! No matter what you are craving, Order Up can help you with their wide variety of food- from pizza to cookies, you can find it all on the same website.
