2019 LionPulse Grant Funding

Thanks to funding from LionPulse, Berks campus is able to create a one-mile expansion to their already existing outdoor walking paths on campus! Along the path, users will also find interactive signage and a strategic linkage to the campus labyrinth.

This walking path will be accessible to all faculty, staff and students to encourage physical activity as well as their daily “WWAKs” (Walk with a Kinesiologist) on campus. In addition, the campus will also be launching a “Berks Walks to the Moon” challenge, where fun prizes will be offered to the student, staff, faculty and department who logs the most steps towards achieving a goal of 477,714,000 steps – the amount of steps it takes to reach the moon!

Berks Walks to the Moon Challenge:

August 21 Kick-Off

Fifty years ago, Apollo 11 landed on the moon. This fall, as part of the LionPulse initiative, our campus is hosting a 'walk' to the moon challenge. Help us reach our goal of walking 477,714,000 steps! Stay tuned for more details.

Monday’s FITT class is an aerobics/body works class, using lightweight dumbbells or bands to improve muscle tone, posture, balance and strength. FITT on Wednesdays is Zumba. All fitness levels welcome! For more information, please contact Marissa Ruggiero or Colleen English.

Penn State is now smoke and tobacco free. Do you want to quit vaping or smoking? This FREE class runs for 8 weeks and is open to students, faculty and staff. There will not be class over spring break. Nicotine patches and gum are available to class for participants. Click here to view flyer.

This is an initiative by the Kinesiology department to support our Exercise is Medicine-On campus credential. Instead of daily WWAK reminders, we’re switching to monthly reminders. If you are interested in still receiving daily emails, whether you are a frequent walker or would like the daily reminder if you walk at your own time, please send us an email!  WWAK times: We will walk every day around campus for 20 minutes. Open to all.
