Five episodes into Winners at War and the game has not slowed down.
So far, 6 people have been sent to the Edge of Extinction, leaving 14 winners still in the game. The season has been a rollercoaster so far, with big threats and old-school favorites getting voted out left and right. In this most recent episode, the game was shaken up once again as there was a tribe swap, turning two tribes into three.
For some players, this was a welcome change–Kim, for instance, was on the bottom of her old tribe, but has now found herself in the crucial swing vote position on the swapped Dakal tribe, between the tight alliances of Tony and Sandra and Jeremy and Denise. For others, the swap led to less-than-desirable results. Michele was in a position of power on old Sele, but she is now joined by a weakened Parvati and a tight 3-person alliance from Dakal, one of whom is her ex-boyfriend! Awkward.
The third tribe, Yara, was more of a mixed bag, and it just so happened to be the one headed to tribal council in the latest episode. Two old Dakal members, Sophie and Sarah, were joined by three original Sele members, Rob, Ben, and Adam, so at first glance, it seems as though Sophie or Sarah would be on the chopping block. That was Rob’s line of thinking as well, and as soon as Yara got back from the immunity challenge, he set the plan into motion. However, the men weren’t as tight as they seemed. In Episode 3, Adam had tried to vote out one of Rob’s closest allies, Parvati, while Ben had successfully voted out his other closet ally, Ethan. Also during that vote, Rob went after Adam, meaning their Sele bond was weak at best and nonexistent at worst. On the other hand, Sophie and Sarah had voted in lockstep for both pre-swap tribals, giving them a stronger basis to work together.
When it came time to vote, both Ben and Adam flipped on Rob, sending him to Edge of Extinction, where he will reunite with wife Amber. In the next episode, two out of the three tribes will vote someone off, likely pointing towards a merge soon. Parvati, Tony, and Sandra seem to be in the most unstable positions, meaning they’re likely targets in the next few episodes. However, this season has been exciting and often unpredictable, so I’m sure that the next few episodes will be similar.
This certainly sound like a game busy with plot twists and excitement! Though I’ve never seen it, it seems quite interesting from what you’ve said. I’d imagine it must be difficult for members who had a good standing in their previous tribes, but that does force them to learn how to not only accept but flow with changes! I’m sure that part of the plot comes from the tribe members’ ability or lack of ability to flow with these changes…that must make for some interesting drama!
