Welcome back to the quarantine blog! just a quick little update before we get into this week’s post. Although Penn State is canceled for the semester and I am extremely upset about that, I am trying to keep busy and push through like I am sure the rest of you are. I am redoing my entire room which is keeping me pretty busy. I hope everyone is staying safe!
Anyway, meet my new friend, Ashlyn Smith! Ashlyn is another one of my new friends that I have made through Alpha Delta Pi, the sorority that I just joined at the end of January. It is so upsetting that I probably will not be able to see these people until the fall, but I am definitely glad that I got to meet them in the first place. Ashlyn is another one of the girls that I met while watching the Super Bowl, and I have loved getting to know her. Ashlyn’s older sister, Marlee, was already in ADPi, so I was able to get to know both of them. Something that immediately stuck out to me about Ashlyn would be her humor. I am constantly laughing when I am around her. When I met her, I knew that we were eventually going to be great friends.
During THON, I spent a lot of time getting to know Ashlyn better and hanging out with her. We bonded over the sub-par pizza cones in the Bryce Jordan Center and had a great time. Although THON was mentally and physically challenging, I had a great time getting to know some of the sisters better and seeing the vast impact that THON makes on society. THON allows you to meet new people and genuinely get to know different aspects of their character, which I really enjoyed.
Ashlyn is an engineering major, which is probably the hardest major that one can attempt at Penn State, which I really admire her for doing. I know that I could never take such hard STEM classes like that, especially considering English and Math are my strong suits. Ashlyn is somehow always able to manage these extremely difficult classes and make time for her friends as well. She is from Massachusets, and both of her older siblings also go to Penn State, depicting how big of a PSU family they truly are. Overall, I am so happy that I got to meet Ashlyn and I can’t wait to get to know her even better than I already do, hopefully whenever we actually return to campus! Have a nice quarantine…
