Before I start this week’s friendship blog, I would like to address the unfortunate situations that accompany our current health pandemic. Although I will not necessarily be able to meet new people here on out at school, I still have a lot of really cool people that I want to write about, so it will be okay. I am really sad to be at home and I miss all of the new friends I have made, so maybe writing this blog will allow me to reflect on some great memories.
Today I will be writing about one of my new friends this semester, Marie Schmitzer! I met Marie through the sorority I just joined Alpha Delta Pi. More specifically, Marie is very good friends with my “Big Sister” Kendall, who I wrote about in my last blog post. Because they are such good friends, I met Marie pretty quickly into joining ADPi. Maire and Kendall are in the same friend group, and they are both extremely funny and both people that I love to be around.
Marie is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A big way that I connected with Marie from the start is due to her summer internship that will be in Annapolis, Maryland. I only live thirty minutes away from Annapolis, so we both knew that we could hang out a lot during the summer and become better friends. Since then, we have talked about going to concerts and music festivals in Baltimore and we have been really excited. Unfortunately, all of those activities are either canceled or postponed due to the Coronavirus, but hopefully, she can still spend the summer in Maryland. Even if we don’t get to do any of this, I am still grateful to have met Marie and I am really glad we are friends. I miss everyone at school so much and it is so unfortunate that this situation is occurring. I really hope a vaccination is found soon so life can resume.
Something that immediately stuck out to me about Marie is that she reminds me of one of my best friends from home, Sarah Fischbein. They have the same humor and that immediately made me want to be friends with Marie. Despite how unfortunate this entire situation is, I am glad I got to meet the people I have so far. Hopefully, this will all end soon, but my prediction is that we will be out for the semester. See ya next week!
