This week, I want to introduce you to my friend Maura Bier. I think that my experience with Maura is honestly a funny story. I have actually known her the entire school year, but I just became genuine friends with her this past week, as we joined the same sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Maura sat behind me in our econ class last semester, with Dr. Peach. For both of us, this was probably the hardest class we have ever taken. It was extremely challenging, and I think we had an unspoken friendship just because of our mutual economic struggles. Despite this, we never really talked to each other.
At sorority bid day, I was excited to see her. I knew that she was a cool person that I could definitely get along with, so I knew that I wanted to get to know her more. I even messaged her separately on the app Group Me and reached out. We immediately became friends and bonded a lot over the funny people we have met and the hilarious situations we have already experienced. Even though it has only been about a week, I can tell that Maura and I are going to be great friends. She is such a fun person to be around, and her vibrant energy follows her wherever she goes.
One thing that I really appreciate about Maura is her humor, she is honestly one of the funniest people that I have ever met in my life. No matter what the situation has been in the past week, she always has something funny to contribute. Whether it relaxes the vibe of the room or makes everyone laugh out loud, we all are happy that Maura is there. We have been joking about how we never even spoke to each other in Dr. Peach’s class, but we were honestly so focused on saving our dwindling grade. If we had not both joined Alpha Delta Pi, I would be worried that we may have never become friends.
Overall, Maura is definitely the breath of fresh air that I needed this semester. I absolutely loved my first semester of college, but I didn’t want to get stuck in a rut of un-involvement. Because of the people that I have met so far, I have already found myself much happier and excited in general, especially since I started working at the local bagel restaurant, Bagel Crust. Yay to new friends!!
