Overall, with this remediation project I sought after my first assignment to improve it and slightly alter what messages I am trying to get across. In the first project, I was analyzing the rhetorical situation of Taylor Pearson’s article “Why You Should Fear Your Toaster More Than Nuclear Power” and through this remediation assignment I changed it so that I am instead advocating for nuclear energy just as Taylor Pearson did. My audience for this assignment are those people who may not like, or fear, nuclear power to try and allow them to see the benefits from pursuing more nuclear power plants. My purpose for doing this is that our current energy resources are diminishing quickly since they are nonrenewable resources so I believe it is time to strongly push towards renewable energy resources.

When beginning this assignment, I thought about my strengths and weaknesses and, without knowing my grade from the proposal project, I thought it smart to stay away from any movie/video mediums. Considering this, I thought of doing a presentation because in high school I was stronger at public speaking over your traditional essay. Therefore, I thought a normal PowerPoint may not be interesting enough so I decided to try and make the medium more interesting by choosing to do a Prezi.

Looking at my Prezi now, I think I effectively created a presentation that would influence those considering supporting nuclear power. First, I tried to use Layman’s terms to keep things simple and to the point so that anyone of any background can view this presentation and understand it easily. Second, I incorporated multiple graphics throughout the presentation that would allow viewers to view what I was talking about. By doing this, I attempted to appeal to logic by showing viewers exactly what I was referencing on that certain slide. Finally, I appealed to the readers emotion when talking about how many people have an irrational fear of nuclear energy because of an incident that was blown way out of proportion. By doing this, I addressed how some viewers may be feeling as well as provide a rebuttal as to why they should no longer feel that way and instead support exactly what I am talking about. Looking back at this project, I thought it was great to have a chance to return to a previous assignment and change how it was presented and I hope that I did justice to my rhetorical analysis paper.
