Singapore

Singapore is one of the few countries in the world that are island nations, cities, and a country all at the same time. Singapore is located off of the tip of southern Malaysia, which is located in Southeast Asia. Surprisingly, it still a highly developed country with a strong economy regardless of its size; the country is only slightly smaller than the U.S. city of Lexington, Kentucky, but still somehow manages to squeeze 5.3 million residents into its borders.

However small this country may be, the excitement that lies within its borders is far from small.

The MacRitchie Reservoir Park is known for two things. The first for being an incredibly beautiful reserve, and the second for being  just as  hard to walk to. Surprisingly, most natives to the country are not even aware that this place exists. The tree top walk is a free-standing suspension bridge that connects the two highest points in MacRitchie, and it is open from 9am to 5pm daily. The fastest way to get there is from the carpark at Venus Drive. The distance from the carpark to the Tree Top Walk is about a 45 minute to 1 hr walk. This is a great way to just relax some and surround yourself with the beauty of nature.

Gardens by the Bay is an incredible one of a kind park that is also located in Singapore. Probably the most popular and well known attraction there are the super trees. These super trees are uniquely designed vertical gardens of 25 to 50 metres tall and have large canopies that provide shade in the day and display of light and sound at night. They are made up of reinforced concrete cores, a trunk, planting panels of the living skin, and a canopy. They are so cool and futuristic looking that it would be a shame to miss out on seeing them. In addition to the supertrees, there is also a world of plants exhibit that lets you see a very wide variety of plants and other intriguing sights.

Who knew that there was a Universal Studios Singapore?! Well there is, and it is definitely worth paying a visit to. There are seven different “zones” to explore: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Lost World, Far Far Away, and Madagascar. Each of these zones has a very different feel to them and tons of rides to get that adrenaline pumping!
