Dragon Age 2 (Dragon Age: The Trial’s predecessor) isn’t a bad game, but it’s a pity that Dragon Age: Origins, which came two years earlier, was so stunning that this sequel almost looks like BioWare is overdrawing players’ confidence. That’s why Dragon Age: Inquisition transcends the biggest triple-A RPG of late 2014 and becomes BioWare’s heartfelt apology to its players.
Dragon Age: Inquisition Review – IGN
Dragon Age: Inquisition focuses on the 40th year of the Age of the Dragon, when a confrontation between the Ring of Mages and the Knights Templar on Kirkwall quickly evolved into a dispute over the land of Thedas. Pope Gastania V invited important leaders of the Ring of Mages and the Knights Templar to the Temple of Ash at Androst in the Frostridge Mountains in an effort to resolve the misunderstanding. Who would have thought that in the very heart of the sacred and the most heavily defended place in all of Cedarth a huge arcane explosion had taken place, tearing the sky apart and opening the passageway between material space and the shadow realm. A multitude of demons and spirits swarmed out, burning and killing. And our protagonist, a human aristocrat who has joined the order since childhood and is ready to go big, is drawn into the film world where the protagonist is in the beginning, the giant spiders lurking around chasing their prey, and at the last moment, a mysterious female green shadow grabs the protagonist’s left hand and sends the protagonist out of the film world. Fleeing a death crisis, the protagonist finds himself in the midst of yet another crisis, apparently arrested after reckless pursuer Cassandra mistook the green soul logo left on his left hand for the culprit of the explosion. But with Lillian’s intervention, Cassandra agrees to let the protagonist show some value that is still worth “using” and seal the crack with the green logo on his left hand. The main character, under Cassandra’s supervision, must travel all the way from the fortress at the foot of the mountain to the place where the rift occurred. When they reach a small supply depot, demons erupt from the crevasse, and the protagonist takes up his weapon and begins to fight alongside Cassandra.

Dragon Age: Inquisition not only brought the series out of the shadow of its predecessor, but also set many new industry standards for the new generation of AAA RPGS. It is like a sudden leader in the flock, both far ahead of its predecessors, and can make any potential competitors gasp. Multiple massive open world maps, abundant exploration elements and side quests, grand stories and compelling choices, and impressive characters with strong personalities. Dragon Age: Inquisition doesn’t look to Dragon Age: Origins for classical RPG gems, it’s more like the less successful Dragon Age II in terms of form, but it’s a stunning improvement in both breadth and depth that its predecessor lacked. Powerful and thus become the most shining highlights of Dragon Age: Trial: a huge open world map, hundreds of voiced characters, 800,000 words of text, a large number of side quests and collection elements, dozens of hours of game time…

I found it really interesting that such detailed back stories are made for video games. I never knew that they had such an fascinating story within them. It almost made me want to watch a movie, just based on the story Dragon Age is based on. Do you also play Genshin? I’ve heard really good things about it from a couple of my friends.

I’ve never heard of this series but it sounds very intricate. Your explanation of the game is very detailed and it sounds very similar to Skyrim although that could just be because I haven’t played many RPG games. It sounds like the story and large map are what made Dragon Age: Inquisition such a success but were there any technical innovations that added to the game’s success or were all the games similar in how they looked and played like the graphics and mechanics?

I loved reading about the backstory for this game! I am not a huge video game fan but if I were one, I think I would definitely enjoy games like this. This seems like it would make a very good book as well. Especially if there are multiple games in the collection, I could see a whole book series based on this backstory.
