1. What do you feel you did well on?
My main goals for this speech were related to public speaking itself. For example, I wanted to cut out verbal fillers such as “um” or “uh” and for the majority of the speech I did not use a single verbal filler. Also, I was worried that because of my nerves, my voice might sound a little weird, but I think I did a good job of keeping that under control.
2. What are some areas to improve?
I thought my analysis of the topic and content of the speech itself was good, but maybe I could have provided more thought-provoking analysis. My speech did feel a bit like an essay after hearing others speak, so maybe I could try to incorporate more speech-like sentences or interactions into my next speech. Overall, the content of my speech needed the most work I believe.
3. What are three things that happened that you weren’t aware of?
As of watching it back, I just realized that none of my audience could actually hear the video, so that’s embarrassing. I think that brought down the quality of my speech a little bit, but I think my audience got the gist of what the video was trying to say. Nothing too surprising happened during the speech itself since it basically felt like I was talking to myself in the mirror, but I was a little surprised at how nervous I was even though it felt like I was talking to myself in a mirror. Lastly, I hadn’t realized that I would be going first, so that took me a little off guard, but I think it was better for me to go first anyway.
