We all have probably seen in the news or heard some talk recently about conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The conflict between these two countries has been going on for years, but was recently escalated when Russia brought troops to the Ukraine border. Many NATO countries including the United States warned Russia not to invade Ukraine, however Russia ignored them.
This invasion has led to a humanitarian crisis. Many people are fearful for their lives and their livelihoods. Due to constant bomb threats many people have had to flee their homes to stay in bomb shelters or nearby subway stations. Currently more than 3.4 million people in Ukraine need humanitarian assistance. 1.6 million people have been forced from their homes. 60% of those in need are women and children. Additionally in the most dangerous areas 460,000 children are living.
One important way to help with this crisis is simply to stay informed on what is happening. The Russian government is infamous for spreading misinformation and using propaganda to try and influence people. There is bound to be misinformation and confusion surrounding this conflict so making sure you stay informed will be important.
Here are some organizations you can donate to if you want to help:
UNICEF
If you have not heard of UNICEF before it is part of the United Nations that works specifically to protect children and families. Specifically in Ukraine, UNICEF is working to provide food, water, sanitation, education and other types of protection and assistance to children and families in Ukraine. No child should have to endure a conflict like what is happening in Ukraine, and while we can’t prevent them entirely from experiencing it, UNICEF helps to ensure that they can remain safe.

Doctors Without Borders
During this humanitarian crisis people are in even more need of healthcare and medical support. Even though other things are going in, people in Ukraine still need to have access to medicines and healthcare. Thank you for researching this and providing info and resources for us- I’m really glad that I have access to this and think it’s really valuable that you did so. Your point about misinformation was very important as well- it can be hard to know quite where the truth lies but I’m happy to have a list of a few organizations I can support to help how I can.
I’m glad you used your blog to talk about about this super important. I see a lot on social media to donate, but it’s good to know reliable organizations.
