Platform
Technology is not my friend. Working with websites and creating digital pieces is harder than baking pie, and I know that’s challenging. Since we have been using WordPress for our RCL blogs, I think it would be best to continue using this program. I like how I can use Sites from Penn State now and export my e-portfolio after graduation so that I may still access or edit it.
Purpose
The purpose of my e-portfolio will be to highlight the social issues that I care about. My academic focus surrounds gender-based issues, and I would like that to be the focus of my career.
Audience
My audience will be a future internship or employer. I would like to work for a charity or non-profit organization that works on issues related to gender. I believe that my e-portfolio will showcase my deep interest in this field.
Artifacts
- Issue brief and Civic issues Blog 3: My issue brief and civic issues blogs highlight my allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. I am an advocate for greater legal protections for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and that is evident in these pieces.
- This I Believe Podcast: In my first piece of the semester, I discussed a family tradition of service, how my family members have committed to serving others, and how I strive to do the same. I thought I could potentially include this in a welcome page to demonstrate how the value of community service is part of my foundation.
- WMNST Essay on Disparities in Access to Healthcare for Minority Women: Last semester I wrote an essay and created a presentation on the disparities in access to important healthcare services for women of minorities.
- CIVCM Advocacy Project on Gendered Violence @ Penn State: Currently I am working on an advocacy project in essay form for another class. My topic is gendered violence including stalking, harassment, and sexual assault in the Penn State community.
- SOC 5 Project on Environmentalism: If I wanted to include pieces on other interesting topics such as the environment or gun violence, I could include this research project from last semester or my infographic on mass shootings.

You have the perfect purpose, audience, and artifacts chosen! I enjoyed reading your Civic Issue blogs and your Issue Brief, I can understand by reading how passionate you are about gender-based issues in society. I like the idea of using Penn State sites and being able to export them before graduation so you can change/edit. I look forward to seeing what e-portfolio you create.

Hey Maddie! I love how you are pulling civic artifacts from both inside and outside of RCL. They all sound super great and very pertinent to your focus of gender-based issues. The This I Believe Podcast sounds like it will be good if you make it predominantly community service focused rather than family focused. It also shows that you have had a passion for working with charities and non-profits since you were young!!
and Honestly, using Penn State Sites sounds very user-friendly and I have no idea why I did not consider that oops.
