Sigils
A sigil is a magic art form that utilizes symbols to achieve a desired outcome, and they are more common than you think. In fact, brand logos can be considered sigils with the goal of attracting customers. The nike “swoosh” for example can be recognized by almost anyone, thus, serving its purpose. Sigils are used by a variety of businesses across the globe and you can use them too. Sigil magic comes in a variety of forms and practices; I will be sharing some of the forms I use. If one way does not work for you, it is important to try another form because sigils can take some practice.
Form 1
This is the way I use the most, but it requires the most materials and patience. Like all witchcraft, you must start my defining your intentions: why am I creating the sigil? It is important to set clear intentions and include various details. For example, if you are looking to earn better grades, do not simply put “I want better grades.” Instead, say, “I want to do well on my tests and quizzes to earn a higher grade.” After setting intentions, it is time to design your sigil. There are no real rules to drawing out your sigil, it can be anything from a scribble to a thought out design. Many sigils have a certain look that utilizes lines, arrows, circles, and moon shapes. Now that you have created your sigil, it is time to throw it in a drawer and forget about it. No, really! Place the sigil in a piece of paper and fold it up; then pour some wax to seal the sigil. You can place the paper anywhere, you will not look at or mess with it. When the wax seal breaks on its own, the sigil has taken effect. If you tamper or break the seal, then your sigil will take the opposite effect.
Form 2
This form starts in the same way as form 1: set your intentions and make them clear and specific. However, sigil design is far more important in this way. Write out you intentions as sentence and then scramble them to lose the meaning. Using the same example, If you intentions are, “want to do well on my tests and quizzes to earn a higher grade”, then you should have something that looks like this: twnaotodlwelnoymssttendaqzsziueotanreahghirederag. Next you will use these letters to design your sigil. You can make the letters as creative or simple as you want and even scramble them more. Similar to form 1, it is time to forget your sigil, however; instead of sealing your sigil in wax, you can destroy or simply throw away your sigil. Your sigil will take effect when you have forgotten about it completely.
Many believe sigil witchcraft does not work because of its nature of forgetting, but it is important to have patience and trust the process. Like any new skill, it may not work how you plan the first few times, so try again!
