The Zodiac Signs
To begin our journey down Astrology lane, I want to begin by describing the basic traits of the zodiac signs. These traits are attached to the sign but are seen in a deeper way when in conjunction with the other aspects of astrology, planets and houses. There are 12 zodiacs that correlate to constellations that mark out the path that the sun travels on during the year. Astrologists gave each sign “a personality” in order to better understand our own personalities. The signs are divided into four groups: water, air, fire, and earth.
The water signs, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, are known for being emotional and intuitive. Cancer, often called the “mother sign”, is known for being nurturing, sentimental, and protective, and they are often gentle and tolerant. Scorpios are related to being mysterious, passionate, and very intense; they can often come off extremely vindictive. Finally, Pisces are private and sensitive and often keep to themselves. Water signs are the perfect place to turn to when looking for advice or simply need to talk about your life and feelings.
The air signs are the communicators and leaders of society due to their intellectually oriented minds. They tend to have a good balance of creativity and logic making them the perfect fit for their roles. Gemini is the most performative of the signs as they are conversational, quick-witted, and enthusiastic. Aquarius is very similar, known as the black sheep, they tend to be very eclectic and visionaries in society with progressive ideals. Libra, our final air sign, is not quite as in your face. They are harmonious and diplomatic and can deal with people very well. The air signs are often called people pleasures because their inherent nature allows them to be quite social.
Fire signs, as you’d probably suspect are passionate and temperamental. They are often seen as “rebels” of society, but are extremely dynamic and creative. Aries, Leo, and Saggitarius are very similar in most of their traits. Firey, dynamic, and confident they like to be the center of attention and can hold that attention very well. One notable difference, is Aries and Saggitarius tend to be quite impulsive and Leo lacks such impulse but instead is quite idealistic.
Finally, earth signs are comforting and grounding, as they are often loyal, organized, and practical. Virgo and Capricorn have many similarities as they both have great ambition and strive for perfection in everything they do. Taurus may be less ambitious because they tend to be calm and like to take things slow and steady. Earth signs are you honest to god, hard workers who are devoted and efficient.
These basic traits are often associated with one’s sun sign, the sign you probably call yourself, but do not reflect an individual’s entire personality. Each aspect of your personality is dominated by a different sign, some may even dominate multiple areas, in my next blog I will dive into those areas and how the signs reflect you as a person.
