About Me

Welcome to Confessions of a Former of Valedictorian! A blog for the Rhetoric and Civic Life course at Penn State!

This blog will have two very distinct blog posts. One will be the RCL (Rhetoric and Civic Life) posts which are predetermined prompts and the other will be PAS (passion) posts which are posts about urban music and artists. “Urban music” is just a collective term for the Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, etc. It’s just a lot easier to say (and type) Urban Music, than all of that.

Now on to the interesting stuff…

Which is me.

I’m Mikayla a current freshman at Penn State, studying History. I’m thinking of adding on either political science or African American studies on as my second major.

“Well, what are you going to do with a degree in history? Be a history teacher. You could have gone to Community College for that.” – Mom

Well, contrary to popular belief that the only thing you can do with is a degree in history is be a history teacher, I plan on taking my degree all the way to law school and becoming either a corporate or criminal lawyer.

I hail from the great state of New York, but I’m not from the city. I call Niagara Falls, New York home and for geography purposes, I’m about 30 minutes outside of Buffalo and 7 hours away from NYC.

I have a confession to make and that is the interesting stuff I alluded to up above was a ploy just to get you to keep reading. Sorry. In my spare time, you can find me lost in the Twitterverse, writing and reading cheesy young adult romance novels or blowing my eardrums out listening to music. I don’t have any world-changing interests or hobbies, besides doing my homework. As the name suggests I somehow managed to become one of seven valedictorians for my graduating class, which is cool considering that I’m probably the last thing people expect when they think valedictorian.

I’m new to blogging so I hope that this goes as well as it possibly can! Thanks for making it this far and enjoy the weekly posts!

Here’s my most current (decent) picture
